Nigeria Should Be Totally Shut Down, Nobody Should Go To Work – 2Baba Advises

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums 2baba-24
Legendary Nigerian musician, Innocent ‘Tuface’ Idibia, popularly known as #2Baba has thrown his weight behind the ongoing protest against police brutality in the country.
Tuface said Nigeria should be shut down completely, amid the End SARS protest.

In a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, the Benue-born singer said Nigerians should stop going to work until politicians were made to answer for bad governance.

Tuface said only markets should be allowed to open.

“I wonder why everybody is still going to work. We need a total shutdown until these politicians start to answer!! Unless they want to use SARS to pursue us to go work #EndSARS.

#EndPoliceBrutality #endimpunity #endlooting, only market for essential things should open,”

He wrote.

Hackers Take Over Industrial Court’s Website, Leak Edo State Contracts Details

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Hacker10
Anonymous Nigeria has taken over the website of Nigeria’s National Industrial Court and also targeted the official website of Edo State Government.
Hackers had also hacked the Twitter account of the National Broadcasting Commission.

On the homepage of the court’s website, the hackers wrote the hastags #OpNigeria #EndSARSProtest #EndSARS #EndSarsNow and #EndPoliceBrutality

In the document seen by The Guardian on Friday, details of hundreds of contract approved by the Edo State Government were dumped on Pastebin by Anonymous on Thursday.

The document showed project ID, date of approval, the cost and category of some of the contracts in 2019 and 2020.

The names of companies to which some of the contracts were awarded were also included in the leaked documents. The hackers alleged that some contractors were paid for doing nothing.

In Nigeria, such a situation is rife.

“You got paid for these contracts but never delivered the job, received billions but spent nothing,” Anonymous said on Twitter.

But the Edo State government has denied the allegations, in fact, it said the documents were fake.

Crusoe Osagie, Edo State governor’s spokesman, in a phone chat with The Guardian on Friday said the documents on the state official websites are for public consumption but said the ones leaked by the hacktivists were “fake”.

“Our website in Edo State is not for hiding documents, it is for putting documents out there for the public. So you don’t need to hack our website to see things that were put there,” Osagie said.

“If you claim you hack our website to get documents that means whatever they are putting out there is fake because our website is not that one we hide documents in,” he added.

Although the Anonymous Wednesday night said it has hacked “multiple” Nigerian Government websites as protests against police brutality, the Edo State government is one of the first two government websites to be exposed.

It also shared a Pastebin document that seemed to contain confidential information on police personnel Wednesday.

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Indust10

The group created a dedicated Twitter for its Nigerian operations on October 12, telling the government to “expect us”. Another handle @AnonyNig is also active in the hacktivism.

Anger over abuses by the police’s notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) erupted onto the streets earlier this month, forcing the government to announce they were scrapping the unit as part of wider police reforms.

The authorities pledged a raft of measures including the release of demonstrators from custody and the setting up, within a week, of an independent body to probe violations.

The government has also acted on a demand to provide psychological evaluation and training to disbanded SARS officials prior to their re-deployment.

But frustration is running high among Nigeria’s youth who face the brunt of abuses as well as a lack of opportunities, and many insist they will keep protesting.

Several hundred people were gathered in Abuja on Wednesday when witnesses said they were attacked.

“A group of boys, maybe 30 of them, 16 to 20 years old, clearly high on drugs, arrived and started destroying our cars,” 28-year-old Esther Jonathan told AFP.

Human rights activist Aisha Yusufu said paying thugs to crack down on protestors was a known tactic in Nigeria.

“This is something they did to us before,” Yusufu told AFP. “They attacked us in 2014 under the watchful eyes of the police, and that is what they have done again in 2020.”

In Ikeja, in Lagos state, several witnesses said that men with machetes and axes attempted to attack demonstrators, but were stopped and handed over to the police.

Vlogger, Ronke Raji Finally Apologizes After EndSARS-Bicycle Saga

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Ronek-10
Nigerian beauty and lifestyle specialist, Ronke Raji has finally retraced her steps following an insensitive Instagram post during the EndSARs campaign.
Recall that the vlogger was dragged through the dirt after sharing a photo of herself on Instagram while writing an epistle on her experience with a bicycle and adding a two-line footnote to the writeup acknowledging the EndSARs campaign. When called to attention, her response met Nigerians as rude and unwelcoming.
Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Lekki-10

Ronke in a new Instagram post however apologised. She wrote,

“As someone who is privileged to be given the platform that I have, my goal has always been simple, which is to spread positivity and bring mental health awareness to as many people as possible, while doing what I love the most.

“However, if I’m being brutally honest, I haven’t been online as much as I would have loved to recently hence my response. I am aware that there has been a lot of anger towards me and the way I responded to this movement.

“For this reason, I want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has been on the receiving end of my recent actions.

“I admit that the statement that was made on my initial post and YouTube clearly does not do any form of justice to the matter at hand and will never suffice as a show of support for the #ENDSARS movement and the on-going protests as a result of that.

“I want to empathize firstly and most importantly to all those who have directly been impacted by SARS.

“To all those who have lost a sibling, a friend, a child, a parent, or a lover, I won’t lie and say I feel your pain, because I’m not in your shoes, but I do understand and I can only pray for healing and comfort for every one of you.

“Also, to those who have been putting their lives on the line to protest, some of which have even lost their lives, I apologize for belittling the impact of what a dedicated set of people could achieve when united. I want you to know that I stand with you, though not physically, but in full support in whatever way I can.

“The oppression in the country has gone on for too long and even though I don’t reside in it, I am still Nigerian.

“Therefore, I stand in solidarity with everyone both online and on the frontline, demanding justice and the total eradication of the SARS unit.

If you would like to know more about #endsars and how you can support check out my stories. #ENDSARS #ENDSWAT #endpolicebrutality,”

She wrote.

An Open Letter To Festus Keyamo SAN – Ruggedman Writes

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Rugged21
Dear Festus Keyamo SAN,
I hope this meets you well. Longest time boss. Since Maryland mall days.

I read an interview where you were quoted as saying;

“the government can not increase Nigerian police force salaries because they are not buoyant.

I just want to say that if the government is not buoyant enough, is the government using the resources we have optimally?

Aren’t there places we spend money that should have these monies redirected?

Aren’t some people earning beyond the justifiable as it is?

37 billion to renovate NASS complex can reconstruct at least 10 police barracks & pay premium for at least 20,000 policemen for health and life insurance.

National assemblys 2021 budget is N128Billion.  It will be a very patriotic act if they use half of this to boost another sector.

Fixing these major problems one by one is one of the best ways forward and a progress the people will see and benefit from immediately.

Electricity will help the youth and every Nigerian function better and be more productive. Instead of constant electricity, we are getting a higher electricity tariff in the middle of a pandemic.

We can do this & more boss. Its not impossible.

We can do better. We need to takeResponsibility. We all need to make sacrifices to make life better for everybody in our great country.

#OneVoiceisOneNationsProgress #EndSARS #endpolicebrutality #Nigeria

Signed
Ruggedman

#EndSARS: My Heart Melts For Nigeria – Celine Dion

Topics tagged under endpolicebrutality on 9jaloud Forums Celine10
Canadian-American legendary musician, Celine Marie Dion, the only Canadian singer to have sold over 200 million records, has sent a message of comradeship to Nigeria citizens.
She wants Nigerians to know that her heart melts for Nigeria, especially at this trying time of the end SARS protest.

The #EndSars protest initially began as an internet campaign, then later, it became a street campaign, after Naira Marley and some other notable Nigerian celebrities decided to lead a physical protest against the excesses of some men of the Federal special anti-robbery squad, SARS.

And as we know the world to be a global village, it was expected that in no time, members of the international community would weigh in with their own support.

First, it was the American based rapper, Cardi B that sent a message of togetherness to Nigerians last week. Now, the evergreen R&B singer, Celine Dion has sent a powerful emotional message to Nigerians on Twitter.

“My heart is melting after reading what is going on in Nigeria…#EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutality” Celine Dion posted.
