17years old boy was arrested in Lagos for fondling an 8-year old girl’s breast has confessed that he had actually desired to have sex with the victim.
The alleged assault on the victim happened at Afariogun Street in Ikeja area of Lagos where they resided.
The suspect revealed that he had desired to sleep with the girl but never had the opportunity to do so and he decided to try what he had seen in porn films on the victim to arouse her feeling for sex.
It was gathered that the suspect went to the victim in the evening in a dark corner and started touching her breasts.
However, his plan failed as the victim was not disposed to such. She raised alarm which attracted the attention of their neighbours and informed her parents what he had done to her.
The parents did not take the assault lightly; they reported to the police and the suspect was arrested.The suspect was taken to the Gender Section at the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.
At the Police Command, he admitted that he touched the victim’s breast and had desired to have sex with her but that she refused to cooperate and raised alarm.
He was charged before the Ikeja Magistrates court for sexual assault on the victim but his plea was not taken. The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi informed the court that the suspect was still a minor and asked the court to use its discretion to grant him bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat directed the suspect to be remanded in remand home without allowing him to undergo any trial for the alleged offence.
P.M.Express reports that the names of the both the suspects and the victim were withheld because of their ages. And the court had only reprimanded the suspect without facing trial probably because of his age.
