“We Must Create Opportunities For Young People” – Osinbajo 2018 World Cup: How Super Eagles Can Lift Trophy In Russia – Amokachi

Daniel Amokachi, former Nigeria international, has expressed optimism that the #Super-Eagles  are good enough to lift the 2018 #FIFA #World-Cup in Russia.

In an interview with BBC, the former Assistant coach of the Super Eagles said the Nigerian team can lift the trophy, if they have a change of mentality.
Amokachi said African teams must aspire to challenge for the World Cup rather than just participate in the tournament.
He said:-
“Will Nigeria get out of that group (2018 World Cup Group D)? Yes. Will Nigeria go far in the World Cup? Yes. Will Nigeria be able to win the World Cup? Yes.
“Africans have to start believing. They have to go past that stage of “your country got to the Second Round, your country got to the Quarter-finals”. No, I’m going to a major tournament to go and win it.
“If we had that mentality, we will go a very long way. And that was what killed us when we were there in 1994, that’s what killed Cameroon when they were there in 1990 and that’s what killed Senegal in 2002. Because they are just going there to have fun instead of “we are going there to win it”.

This year’s edition of the FIFA World Cup will be Super Eagles sixth appearance since debuting in the United States, US, in 1994.

Dele Alli Said- ‘England Can Win World Cup’

Dele Alli said England will not be satisfied with a second place finish at the #World-Cup and are ''Going to win it''

The squad have 12 days until their opening game against Tunisia on June 18, with a final warm-up match against Costa Rica to come at Elland Road on Thursday.
England have reached the World Cup semi-finals just once since winning the tournament in 1966 but Alli has high hopes for the current squad in Russia.
“We’re going there to win it. We don’t expect anything less and we’ll be disappointed if we finish second,” he said.
“I feel like we have to have that mentality. We don’t want to go there and just be a part of it. We know how good we are as a squad, we know the talent.
“If we get the best out of each other then anything is possible.”

Kanu Nwankwo Said - “Nigeria Will Shock The World In Russia”

With nine days to the start of the 2018 FIFA #World-Cup, Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu is supremely confident the Super Eagles will shock the world in Russia.
The two-time African Footballer of the Year told the UK Mirror after an exhibition game in Kaliningrad Russia that the Eagles were primed for success, expressing total confidence in the ability of the current squad to excel at the Mundial.
He admitted that Nigeria was pooled in a difficult group which has Argentina, Iceland and Croatia but the Eagles had the capacity to emerge from the trickish section.
“The FIFA World Cup is the greatest football tournament on the planet; every team dreams of being part of it and I am sure it will be a very special event in Russia for every team participating in it.
“For Nigeria, I know we are in a very difficult and trickish group but we will be a big surprise, for sure,” Kanu said.

Kelechi Nwakali Of Super Eagles Said ‘Nigeria Can Reach 2018 World Cup Final’-

Topics tagged under world-cup on 9jaloud Forums Kelech10

Kelechi Nwakali is positive that Nigeria have what it takes to challenge for the Fifa #World-Cup title in Russia as he feels they have plenty of quality.
The #Super-Eagles bowed out to France in the Round of 16 last edition and booked an early ticket to Russia after overpowering Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria in the qualifiers.
However, the midfield whiz who is unmoved after failing to get a call-up for the quadrennial fiesta despite a fine season with MVV Maastricht has no doubt that Gernot Rohr’s men can compete for the winners’ prize.
“If I say I’m disappointed not making the #Super-Eagles’ team [to the World Cup], I am deceiving myself,” Nwakali told Goal.
“From the qualifiers, I was not part of the team and there are midfielders who play in the same position [as myself] and play regularly for their clubs – top clubs precisely.
“All we should do is to support the team to make us proud not who is on the team and who is not.
“Even if I am playing in a top club, its all about the coach and what he wants in the team – he has to make the final decision.”
The three-time African champions have been zoned in Group D against Argentina, Croatia and Iceland and the 19-year-old believes the Eagles will soar if they ‘work as a team’.

“I believe we have a good team and have all it takes to make a statement in the World Cup,” he continued.
“All I need to ask from them [Super Eagles] is to put their minds together, work as a team and they will achieve [their aim].
“I’m not talking about the semi-final, I’m talking about being in the last part of the World Cup and if they work hard and believe in themselves, they can achieve it.”
