M.I Abaga thinks the artiste of the decade should belong to #Olamide and not #Wizkid. As opposed what Olamide said yesterday that Wizkid being the artiste of the decade according to PulseNG was well deserved.
The Chocolate City boss took to his Twitter account to air his own opinion concerning the artist of the decade debate.
Nigerian ace producer, Samklef has revealed the most stupid thing he has ever done on social media.
The #Wizkid Samklef beef was one of the most talked-about topics in the Nigerian music industry. Samklef accused the “Fever” singer of always belittling him during interviews.
He spilled several dirty secrets about the singer saying he produced the majority of the songs on his “Superstar” album and did not receive a dime.
This went on for years but all Wizkid had to say was that he had nothing but respect for Samklef. The two settled their beef amicably and are now best of friends but Samklef is still remorse about all the nasty things he said about the singer.
Samklef was recently asked by a fan on Twitter to say the most stupid thing he has ever done on social media. Samklef responded saying fighting with Wizkid was actually a very dumb move from him.
African Giant, Damini Ogulu professionally known as Burna Boy, has topped the 2019 list of Apple Music most-streamed artists.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the data recently released by Apple Music, featured Artists in sub-Sahara Africa whose songs were streamed via the platform.
In the heavyweight list, BurnaBoy aka African Giant had five songs leaving the other five top slots to other artists including #Davido#Wizkid#Joeboy and #Rema.
The YBNL CEO, #Olamide has finally picked a side on-going artiste of decade debate, he didn’t even choose himself, but the Starboy, #Wizkid. Earlier today, who deserve the artiste decade? became a thick cloud of debate amidst many Nigerians on the media. PulseNG then compiled a list of the top 10 artists of the decade.
Wizkid happens to be their No.1 artiste of the decade, then followed by the YBNL boss, Olamide. However, some fans have shown rejection on the list.
But Olamide himself believes Starboy being the artiste of the decade is well deserved. Well, both legends have been waxing strong from day 1, since the day of Omo to shan.
For the past 10years now, the Nigeria’s music industry has been blessed with so many talented artistes.
Some lasted for a very long time while others fade off in no distant time.
Talking about relevance in the music scene for the past 10 years and the level at which they have taken Nigerian music to, we cannot but agree that Burna Boy, #Davido,#Wizkid and #Olamide are potential Artiste Of The Decade award winners.
After his massive breakout into the music scene in 2011 with his smashing hit single “Dami Duro” and subsequent release of “Omo Baba Olowo” album Davido has been wielding so much impact in the music industry till date.
Aside from having many hit singles to his name ranging from “Aye“, “Skelewu“, “Gobe” and a host of others, Davido has collaborated with virtually all artistes in the music industry.
His deal with Sony Music at some point brought a major setback to his career, but the whole thing turned into blessings when he broke-away from the unfavourable record deal and started winning worldwide.
Burna Boy
He might not have been on top of the game like Davido and Wizkid for several years but you all will agree with me that Burna Boy is one of the best Reggae Dance-hall act in the music industry within the decade before switching up sound to Afro-Fusion.
Burna Boy‘s rise to fame was in 2012 when his song “Like To Party” became a nationwide anthem followed by his debut album L.I.F.E which tore apart several music charts that year.
From 2012 till date Burna Boy’s impact in the music industry has been significantly felt most especially last 2 years and now that his Afro-Fusion sound is now in the global space.
Being the only Nigerian artiste close to bring home the Grammy Award, Burna Boy is no doubt a potential artiste of the decade winner.
Let’s sum Burna Boy’s music journey within the decade with his Album titles;
He came through L.I.F.E as an artist On A Spaceship and went Outside to become the African Giant.
He got the attention of the entire music lovers in Nigeria many years ago with his silk and velvet voice on songs and it’s quite exceptional the way he was able to sustain the attention every year.
He rose to stardom with songs like “Holla At Your Boy“, “Don’t Dull”, “Tease Me” off his Superstar debut album in 2011.
Wizkid never stopped being a force to reckon with within the Nigeria music scene till this moment.
He became the biggest Afro-beat export in Nigeria in 2016 when he got featured on Drake‘s global hit song, “One Dance” while also having Drake on his song “Come Closer“.
Even though Drake never came closer in the music video, Wizkid’s achievements in the music industry has been the dream of many artistes that have hit stardom within the decade.
Olamide
He broke out as an Indigenous rapper but his consistency in the music industry and versatility as an artiste have made him a big force within the decade.
After releasing his debut studio album, Rapsodi in 2011 under Coded Tunes, he established his own label imprint, YBNL under which he released his second studio album.
Since then, Olamide has been waxing stronger every year, dishing out songs that are relatable to the street.
Meanwhile, his ability to release an album every single year within the decade is an outstanding record any artiste of his calibre has not beaten yet.
So guys, without saying too much, you all are already familiar with the journey of these artistes so far in the industry.
The question still remains
Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy & Olamide – Who Do You Think Deserves Nigerian Artiste Of The Decade Award?
It has been estimated and long foresighted Burna Boy might extend his rule till the end of this year. A fantastic run from last year has included a BET win, an invite to the biggest music festival, Coachella, a greatly hyped album and of course who knows a possible Grammy Award win in 2020.
But who can stop Burna Boy right now? Wizkid. While many felt the Starboy was cheated last year, he equally had a wonderful run in 2018 however the impact of Burna Boy’s Ye was a major factor that contributed to Burna Boy taking home the honours for last year.
Many would have expected #Wizkid to return with more zeal and most especially, release music even more consistently than last year’s, however, he took a break to complete his album, the collaborations he’s been involved in have impacted the music space.
Low with Larry Gaaga is perhaps one of the best records we’ve had this year and the effect of the Beyonce Collaboration, Brown Skin Girl, is an overall win for the Nigerian Music Industry. And his recent singles, Ghetto Love and Joro are viral hits.
But how can Wizkid take back the crown from Burna Boy? With Made In Lagoswizkid can possibly take back his position.
Many industry execs and producers who worked on the Made In Lagos album hold it in high regard. Killertunes, Northboi and Burna Boy’s frequent collaborator, Kel P refer to it as an “insane” project.
While we can all agree that the African Giant album was all about the media buzz, if we strip away the hype, we probably have an average project.
If it happens that the Made In Lagos album drops this year with the right media buzz and proper distribution, it could make an appearance on Billboard charts, a feat African Giant failed to achieve.
Yet it still looks like Burna Boy might be coasting to victory at the end of this year owing to Wizkid and Davido’s absence from the scene at the beginning of this year.
But Can Wizkid Break Burna Boy’s Dominance On The Music Scene With His Made In Lagos Album?
Or Burna Boy Might Just Extend His Rule Till 2020?

Life stories of artistes like D’Banj, Wande Coal, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, Dr. Sid, #Rema, Tiwa Savage won’t be complete without Don Jazzy in the middle of the storyline.
In #Davido‘s case, this is someone very passionate about helping upcoming talents grow.

Adekunle Gold might still be hustling as a graphic designer if not for Olamide who supported his music talent.
Chinko Ekun, #Lyta, Picazo, Yomi Blaze, #Davolee and others will forever be grateful to Olamide.
#Fireboy is the latest beneficiary of Olamide‘s helping hands. Needless to say, Baddo na Baba!!
